As the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) prepare to elect its presidential candidate, another presidential aspirant, Mohammed Hayatudeen has thrown in the towel.
Hayatudeen, in a letter dated 27th May, 2022, addressed to the National chairman of PDP and sighted by SINL Nigeria Online announced his withdrawal from the race.
He hinged his withdrawal on alleged monitisation of the contest.
The letter titled: ‘Why I am stepping down as a presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’ read in part:
“It is therefore based on personal principles and with great humility that I have decided after wide consultations to withdraw from this contest which has been obscenely monetized”.
