The National Population Commission (NPC) has concluded arrangement to run a pre-test Census across Nine local government areas in Jigawa state, ahead of the 2023 census.

Dr Samaila Lawan Suleiman, federal Commissioner in charge of Kano, and over seeing Jigawa state made the disclosure to SINL Nigeria Online at the weekend in Dutse.

Dr Suleiman said 110 Ad-hoc staff were recruited and are now undergoing training in Dutse.

He explained that census is done to help government or policy makers to plan and implement projects that have direct bearing on the citizens.

He said the exercise would involve house numbering by enumerators, follow by questions, such as how many children are in a household.

“How many are men or women, how many are workers or how many of them are not unemployed, how many are schooling and who are not in school”, he said.

“Other questions would include how many people are handicap and how many are healthy. All these groups have to be put into consideration in terms of planning”, he concluded.
