Constitution Review: 26 memoranda presented by delegates on first day -Senator Gaya

Chairman of the zonal public hearing at the Kaduna center, one of the venue of the review of the 1999 constitution in the North west, Senator Kabiru Gaya on Wednesday said 26 memoranda were presented by delegates on the first day of its sitting.


Gaya who spoke with newsmen shortly after the Committee adjourned sitting to Thursday said the turn out was impressive. 

Recall, the Kaduna center comprise of Kano, Katsina, Jigawa and Kaduna states.


He said the center received 46 memoranda, saying 26 were presented on the first remaining 20 memoranda for the second day.

Gaya however allayed fears on the schedule of the committees, stressing it will complete it’s work within the time frame.

“The committee seeks for the coperation of state governors and states Houses of Assembly in the review of the 1999 constitution.

“We need to talk to the people from the grassroots to give us their opinion and we are happy with the delegates that came here, I mean all groups, even people from diaspora came here today” Gaya said.
