The Executive Secretary of the Nomadic Education in Jigawa state, Hajiya Ramatu Muhammad has urged the state government to convert redundant incubation centres across the state into mobile health Clinics for Nomads.
Muhammad made this known in an interview with SINL Nigeria Online on Monday in Dutse.
She said the incubation centres created for the Nomads across the state years back were left redundant for long and need to be transformed into health centres.
The Executive secretary said the four main grazing reserve in the state should also be transform into Veterinary health center for the treatment of animal diseases.
She suggested that this could be done through the ministries of health and Agriculture.
“The ministry of health will handle the transformation of the incubation centres into health facilities, while the ministry of Agriculture will handle the construction of the Veterinary clinics”, she stressed.
Ramatu also advised that government can minimize the conflicts reoccurring between farmers and the herders in the state by reopening the cattle routes that were blocked by farmers.
“Government should also identify the leaders of the herders, to always hold a meeting with them to know what their problems are.
“Government should create means of communication between the herders and the farming communities with the means of getting timely reports or feedback on the happenings.
“All strange migrants fulani anywhere in the state should register their presence with their leaders to enable the constituted authority to be aware of their presence”, she stated.
According to Ramatu, monitoring the movement of the Nomadic Fulani by authorities concerned should be made effective across the state.
She also decried that Nomadic Fulani are the most neglicted by government anywhere in the country.
“They are not being treated as their counterparts farmers. They are not being assisted with incentive to support their business of rearing livestocks.
“Farmers are given fertilizer at a subsidized rate, farming tools, insecticides, seeds, extension workers. Nomads should also be assisted” She said.
