Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has banned football viewing centres across the 18 local government areas of the State, in a bid to stop the increasing cases of COVID-19.

The ban according to the governor followed the commencement of the European football league season.

Akeredolu spoke at the weekly media chat held at the Government House, Akure.

He said the government would not relent in efforts to continue enforcing the restriction, despite the deviance of some people in the State.

“All residents are encouraged to practise, more than before, social and physical distancing, use of facemasks, handwashing and travel restriction.

“All Premiership football viewing centres are hereby banned from operations until further notice. All religious organisations are to further ensure stringent implementation of the agreed guidelines for worship” Akeredolu said.

He expressed displeasure over the rate at which the people of the State were disobeying the restriction order of the government against fighting COVID-19.
