A member representing Doma North at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Musa Iyimoga has advised youths in his constituency to eschew violence ahead of the Oct. 6 local government elections.

Iyimoga gave the advice on Sunday in Doma at a Citizens Legislators Forum organised by an NGO, Young Leaders Network (YLN) in collaboration with his office to interface with the constituents.

The lawmaker noted that periods of elections were often characterised by violence sponsored by selfish politicians.

He urged the youth to rather channel their energy towards ensuring a peaceful and credible local government election by coming out to cast votes for candidates of their choice.

“Let’s use the opportunity of the forthcoming local government elections to tell the world that we are now mature and things have changed for the better,” he said.

Iyimoga expressed delight with the interaction at the forum with his constituents, saying the various submissions made would guide him to represent them more effectively at the Assembly.

He also used the opportunity to reel out some of his achievements in the constituency and at the Assembly within the last two years.

Mr Envoh Emmanuel-Okolo, Project Officer of YLN said the forum was an avenue for the members of the constituency to interact with their lawmakers, know what had been done and made suggestions that would address their key constituency needs.

Emmanuel-Okolo said that the forum was aimed at encouraging inclusive governance by bridging the gap between legislators and their constituents through the physical interface.

He said that participants at the forum were drawn from various segments of the constituency including youth, women and religious groups.
