Different groups that supported the President-elect, Bola Tinubu and the Vice President-elect, Kassim Shettima, in the Feb. 25 presidential elections, have held a pre-inauguration celebration following court judgments dismissing suits against them.
Sen. Ita Enang, Coordinator, All Progressives Congress (APC) Renaissance Team for Tinubu-Shettima Presidency, Friday evening, said the groups came together to celebrate the victory.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Supreme Court and the Federal High Court, Abuja, had, on Friday, dismissed two separate suits filed to invalidate Tinubu and Shettima ‘s candidacy and stop their swearing-in on Monday.
“Today, the Supreme Court delivered victory to the Nigerian people.
“We congratulate the president-elect and vice president-elect and congratulate all Nigerians of all political parties.
“The court has declared that APC validly won the election and any body who wants to challenge it must have locus standi, must be a person who partook in the process.
“So we thank the Supreme Court, we thank all the courts that have demonstrated restraint in not allowing the judicial process, the orders of the court and the hallow chambers of the court to be used in interfering or truncating the democratic process,” Enang said.
He stressed that the gathering was principally to celebrate Tinubu and Shettima as incoming president and incoming vice president of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We have come to say that in the next few hours and days, they will be formally inaugurated and sworn in.
“So, we have had this assembly of our own as a pre-inauguration celebration to eat, drink, merry, clap and thank God and thank ourselves for how far we have gone through the process of nomination, the elections, the court and all that.
“And we have now arrived at the process, awaiting swearing-in,” he said.
He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for the state-of-the-art, colourful and seamless transition process put in place.
Dr Nasiru Ladan, the Director-General of Amalgamated APC Support Groups, said in Tinubu and Shettima, the country now had a team that “is vast in digital economy and will make Nigeria great again.”
He said the groups supported them and would continue to support them in any capacity as they assumed the leadership of the country.
Hajia Yasmine Binta Sabeh, National Coordinator, Tinubu National Frontiers (TNF), said the Nigerian women looked forward to working together with Tinubu and Shettima .
“They promised us to carry the women along and we will always be there for them as mother if the nation,” she said.
NAN reports that other groups at the meeting also include Queen Amina Support Group for Tinubu-Shettima, WAZOBIA Stakeholder Group, among others.
