Deputy Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Public Account and member Representing Akwanga/Wamba/Nassarawa Eggon Federal constituency of Nassarawa state, Hon Jeremiah Umaru has said defaulters of COVID 19 fund should be ready to face strict sanctions if found guilty.
Hon. Umaru stated this on Thursday while speaking with newsmen shortly after the committee’s sitting at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.
According to the lawmaker the era of collecting Government funds in the name of project and misappropriating it is over, he said that the National Assembly under the leadership of the Honourable Speaker, Rt Hon Tajudeen Abas will not condole corruption in the system.
He assured Nigerians that 10th National Assembly is out to give purposeful representation, saying the ongoing probes will not be swept under the carpet.
He added that Nigerians should expect strict sanctions to any government department or agency found guilty of misappropriating fund at the end of the probe.
He further urged Nigerians to cooperate with the 10th Assembly, stressing they are ready to provide the needed dividend of democracy to achieve the renewed hope of the present administration of President Bola Tinubu.
