COVID-19: Jigawa records new death, 47 test positive

Following the second wave of covid-19  pandemic, Jigawa has recorded the death of an aged woman, believed to have died in Dutse as a result of the disease.


The state governor Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Badaru confirmed the death on Wednesday, while briefing news men at the government house Dutse.


Governor Badaru explained that,  an elderly woman living in Dutse, the state capital, who has for some time been suffering from some ailments, has been confirmed to have contracted the virus.


The Governor maintained that, as of now 47 people have tested positive to COVID-19 in the state, including members of National Youth service Corps (NYSC), while the number of death in the state stands at twelve.


He said as part of measures to reduce the spread of the virus, the state government ordered all civil servants from level 12 downward to work from home. 


Other measures include compulsory use of face mask, observing social distancing, regular wash of hand and restrictions of any activities of more than fifty people in the state. 


He sougth for support and cooperation of the people to tackle the spread of the virus.
