(SINL NIGERIA) Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, has strongly dismissed claims by Niger’s military junta that some Nigerians are working against the peace and stability of Niger Republic.
Badaru stated this on Sunday while speaking to Journalists at the venue of the “Citizen Engagement” program held in Birninkudu Local Government Areas of Jigawa State.
However Badaru’s statement has eased tension currently brewing between Nigeria and Niger Republic.
It would be recalled that recently the Nigerien’s military leader, Abdourahamane Tchiani, has accused Nigeria of colluding with France to destabilize Niger.
Badaru said Nigeria and Niger Republic share strong brotherly ties, and no Nigerian is working against the peace of either country.
The minister reassured Nigerians that the military remains committed to eliminating all threats to national security, such as banditry and Boko Haram.
He further emphasized that the Armed Forces have been equipped with all necessary weapons and resources to tackle security challenges effectively.
Badaru also highlighted improvements in Nigeria’s security situation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
He therefore credited the president’s leadership for the progress made in securing the country nooks and crannies.
