The Minister of Defense, Muhammed Badaru Abubakar on Saturday flagged off the construction of 1500 housing units for civil servants at Fanisau, village in Dutse Local Government Areas of Jigawa State.
Badaru who was the immediate past state governor, described his successor, Governor, Umar Namadi as a manifestation of commitment and good intention to take the state to the greater height.
He said during the electioneering campaign he told Jigawa people that Namadi is a gentleman, straight forward, prudent and patriotic, if elected he will not disappoint them, saying he has been vindicated.
Badaru added that the governor has continued from his legacy, adding that there is going to be so many projects and programme that will have direct bearing on the lives of the people.
He stressed that Jigawa electorate have been excited in the last eight month.
“Today we are witnessing the foundation of another laudable project, the construction of 1,500 houses in the state.
“I also feel honoured and delighted for inviting me to be part of this historic event, and I promise to continue to give my support to make Jigawa state greater” Badaru said.
Meanwhile, the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi said the construction of the 1,500 houses is part of his government commitment to provide affordable housing to the people of the state inline with his 12 point agenda.
“The project has multiple social and economic advantages as more job opportunities, employment will be generated beside provision of accommodations.
“The houses will be built in five emirate cities and three major urban towns of Dutse, Hadejia, Kazaure, Gumel, Ringim, Birnin Kudu, Babura and Kafin Hausa.
“The mass Housing project will be executed in phases according to our 12 point agenda” he added.
