The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah has solicited the support of the former Head of State and founder of National Youth Service Corps, General Yakubu Gowon on the actualisation of NYSC Trust Fund.
He said the fund when actualised, will boost the scope of the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme and also empower more Corps Members to establish their vocational businesses.
He added that the trust fund will reduce unemployment among graduate youths.
General Fadah stated this on Monday when he paid a courtesy visit to the founder of the National Youth Service Corps, General Yakubu Gowon in his office in Abuja.
The DG commended the vision of General Gowon for establishing the NYSC, which has enabled millions of graduate youths of Nigerian origin to contribute their quota to national development.
He urged General Gowon not to relent in offering useful advise for the progress of the NYSC Scheme in order to consolidate on its laudable achievements.
General Yakubu Gowon in his response commended the managers of NYSC for sustaining his vision till date.
“I understand you people are doing very well and people have been saying it and been reporting good about it so continue doing better.
“Thank you for coming to brief me on what you hope to achieve and build on the success of your predecessor, to ensure that the NYSC Scheme continues to grow from strength to strength”, General Gowon said.
He equally commended the successive batches of Corps Members for living up to the ideals of the vision of establishing the NYSC.
“Let me also appreciate all of you Corps Members, present and past for making this Scheme a success, it is not me, it is all of you that are doing the work that make it so successful and you have a good Director General and board supporting that”, he stated.
