(SINL NIGERIA) The Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial district, Senator Peter Nwebonyi has argued that the controversial tax reform bills in the National Assembly will stimulate more economic activities in the federating states of Nigeria, contrary to the position being canvassed by critics.
Indeed, the lawmaker applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for thinking outside the box, saying the reform is timely.
“Nigeria needs a president who can think outside the box.
“You will agree with me that our population is growing every day so also the responsibility of government is growing everyday, our budget is growing every year and we need revenue to fund this budgets.
“You will also agree with me that no matter how beautiful a budget is, without having revenue to fund it! It becomes a beautiful nonsense, so our President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is thinking outside the box” Nwebonyi said.
The Ebonyi Senator spoke on Monday in Abuja.
“It is going to be the more you work, the more you eat.
“If you want to be rich, get more VAT in your states, stimulate more economic activities in your state.
“The area that pleases me a lot is that, it is the state of economic activities, the consuming part that will get the VAT, not the headquarters of the companies”.
The Ebonyi born lawmaker, urged Nigerians not to play politics with everything.
“I want to urge Nigerians not to play politics with everything, you may not like APC as a party, but you need to like its good policies, this is a good policy to redirect Nigeria, to lay a formidable economic foundation for the country”
He noted that Nigerians can continue to lament, stressing that if Nigeria wants to prosper, they must put in place correct economic policies to proper, which the Tax reform bills is one of them.
He however disagreed that the reform is targeted at a section of the country.
“No particular place or state is targeted, instead these bills is saying the more you work, the more you eat”
