Katsina State Government Under the leadership of Governor Dikko Umar Radda has said that it is taking bold steps to reform the education sector across the State.
This was disclosed by the State Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Hajiya Hannatu Musa Musawa during a one day sensitization workshop for private and community schools on the new operational guidelines.
Hajiya Hannatu said that, education is the cornerstone of progress and development, saying that private and community schools play a pivotal role in shaping the future of children, adding that, the presence of the participants underscores the shared commitment to advancing inclusive educational reform and improving the overall quality of education in Katsina State.
According to her, the new operational guidelines have been carefully developed to strengthen the operations of private and community schools, while fostering collaboration with the State Government to meet the educational needs of every child in Katsina State.
She explained that, the new operational guidelines is aim to create a transparent, efficient, and inclusive framework for school operations as well as global best practices and local realities.
It also address critical areas such as infrastructure, curriculum delivery, teacher qualifications, student welfare, and compliance with national and state education policies.
The Commissioner revealed that, the Ministry has revised the compliance and approval processes to ensure that only institutions meeting minimum standards are permitted to operate safeguarding students and protecting parents from substandard education.
Musawa added that, reimagined community engagement, especially for community schools, which must now demonstrate long-term development plans involving local stakeholders ensuring schools serve as hubs for community welfare.
According to her, these guidelines are not static, then she urged them to remain committed to transparency and stakeholder engagement as the draft version will be shared with you for collaboration and evidence-based refinement.
She therefore urge all private and community schools to fully embrace these guidelines, register for approval, invest in teacher training, and prioritize student welfare.
According to her, the Ministry is committed to supporting you with resources, training, and partnerships as the guidelines are a roadmap to excellence not a barrier and for synergy to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to quality education and greater opportunities.
The participants include members of the State Government, School Proprietors, Principals, Headmasters, he Administrators, Teachers, Community Leaders, and Stakeholders in Education.
