Emir of Ilorin advocates arms bearing for FRSC personnel

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, has expressed deep concern over the lack of arms for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) personnel.

Indeed, the monarch has stressed the need for the agency to be adequately equipped to carry out its duties effectively.

The Emir stated this on Tuesday during an official visit of the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed to the Emir’s palace in Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to him, the present lack of arms for Corps personnel has been a longstanding issue, as such, beckoned on the Government to take necessary action to address this issue and ensure that the personnel are adequately equipped to carry out their duties safely and effectively. 

He called on the entire citizens to always pray and support the Corps at all times so they can be able to keep the highways safe. 

Responding, the Corps Marshal who expressed immense happiness over the Emir’s advocacy, appreciated him for recognizing the risks that FRSC personnel subject their selves to in the line of duty due largely to lack of arms.

He stated that his administration is doing everything possible to boost the morale of staff so as to enhance their general productivity as the Corps buckles towards enhancing the Safety of lives and properties. 

He revealed that part of the morale boosting efforts is the ongoing housing projects for staff. 

The Corps Marshal said that by equipping FRSC personnel with arms and ensuring the security of its installations, the the Corps can be more focussed on its core mandate of promoting road safety and reducing crashes on Nigerian roads.

This according to him, will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the lives of Nigerians and contribute to the overall development of the country.
