Former Minister of state for Labour and Productivity, Prof. Stephen Oseni has commended the Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello for injecting life into Kogi State traditional institution.
Prof. Oseni made the commendation during the official presentation of staff of office to the newly graded and upgraded traditional rulers in Kogi State.
Professor Oseni said Governor Yahaya Bello has changed the narrative in governance in Kogi State by revisiting the regrading and upgrading of traditional rulers stagnated for some two decades across the state.
He therefore tasked the respective graded and upgraded traditional rulers to synergize with government to tackle the existing security challenges within and outside the Kogi State.
HRM Gabaidu, Mathew Alaji Opaluwa, the Atah Igala noted that traditional institution is critical in guaranteeing security for lives and properties saying, traditional rulers are closer to the citizens.
Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello commended the traditional rulers for the peaceful co-existence in the state, adding that this informed why they deserves to be equipped to help government in tackling the increasing challenges of insecurity in and outside the state.
Bello also assured the chiefs that he has directed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to start the compilation of names of other traditional rulers that are also due for elevation so that it could be implemented before the end of the year.
A total of One hundred and four traditional rulers were graded and upgraded, out of which, thirty one were first class, thirty second class and remaining forty three are of third class status.
