Fire guts Army training facility in Zaria

Properties worth millions of naira were on Saturday night destroyed by an inferno at the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria, Kaduna State.

SINL Nigeria Online gathered that the fire which started at about 9pm affected Block 15 soldiers’ quarters while the State Fire Service, the Depot Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Military School made efforts to put out the inferno.

The Army Public Relations Officer of the Depot Nigerian Army, Captain Audi Arigu, who confirmed the incident on Sunday, said no life was lost.

According to him, Block 15 of the Corporal below Quarters of Depot Nigerian Army was affected by the fire and only the last floor of the building was damaged.

The depot was established in 1924 for the training of soldiers.
