Tragedy struck in Danbaza village, in Maradun local government of Zamfara state, as seven members of a family were reportedly feared dead after eating food suspected to contain poison.
SINL Nigeria Online gathered that the victims lost their lives after eating vegetables mixed with corn, locally known as (Danbu), which was prepared as dinner.
It was further gathered that the victims included two married women and five teenagers of the same family.
A source closed to the family members, Muhammad Kabir said as soon as the people finished the meal, four of the victims died instantly, while three were rushed to hospital where they also died.
“Instantly Four died while three died after they were taken to the hospital”.
According to him, the victims were alleged to have used poisonous substance in the cooking of the meal.
The victims have since been buried on Tuesday at their home town, Danbaza.
When contacted, Maradun local government sole administrator, Umar Mu’azu confirmed the incident, adding that representative from the local government were sent to condole the victims family.
“Already Maradun local government of under my leadership have sent a delegation to Danbaza village to condole the victims family, they are on their way right now”, he stated.
