Former Abacha’s Agric Minister Dr Malami Buwai is dead

The death of an elder statesman and former minister of Agriculture during the General Sani Abacha’s administration, Dr Malami Buwai has been described as great loss to Zamfara State, north and the country.

Dr Buwai died on Monday following an illness in Gusau, Zamfara State capital.

While condoling the family of late Dr Buwai, Governor Bello Matawalle described the death of the former Minister of Agriculture as a monumental loss to the state.

The Governor made the remark today, shortly after the funeral prayer of the deceased which held at the Gusau Central Jumat mosque.

The Governor said he received with shock the death of the seasoned farmer, Scholar, philantropist, administrator and an astute elder stateman.

“late Malami Buwai was a honest, God-fearing and philantropist per excellence, the former minister had contributed immensely to the development of Zamfara State especially by assisting the needy”.

He said late Buwai was one of the personalities in the fore front during the struggle for the creation of Zamfara State.
