Gov. Lawal’s fruitful official journey to Abuja -By Nuhu Salihu Anka

The executive governor of Zamfara state, His Excellency, Dauda Lawal has been in Abuja the nation’s capital, as part of his determination and commitment to partner with relevant authorities and stakeholders to develop the state in all ramifications in a bid to actualize his mission “Rescue Zamfara.” 

Governor Dauda while in Abuja alongside other governors of the country attended the maiden meeting of the National Economic Council, chaired by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, at the presidential Villa, Abuja.

Similarly, Governor Lawal alongside seven (7) Northwest Governors met behind closed-door with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, where they discussed lingering security challenges bedeviling the region.

Lawal, who was worried about recent banditry activities affecting innocent citizens in the state, sought President Tinubu’s intervention in addressing the menace and restoration of normalcy in the state.

Furthermore, to push for the restoration of peace and security in the state, the Governor had also visited the Defense Headquarters, Abuja,  where he met with the Chief of Defense Staff, General Lucky Irabor, in a bid to seek for more military support and presence in the state.

Governor Dauda, who had a closed-door meeting with General Irabor, discussed key security challenges facing the state and the way forward.

Lawal, who reiterated his administration’s resolve of protecting the lives and property of all citizens in the state, said he is ever ready to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to restore peace and tranquility in the state.

In the same vein, the governor had also paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary of  Federal Ministry of Works, Alhaji Mamuda Mamman, where he sought for partnership and collaboration between the Ministry and the Zamfara state Government on projects that will positively touch the lives of the state populace.

He told the Permanent Secretary that it was part of his electioneering promises to bring positive changes that would touch the lives of the people of the state positively.

In his response, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Mamuda Mamman, who showed appreciation on the Governor’s visit assured him of his Ministry’s readiness to partner with  Zamfara state Government in the areas of roads construction and rehabilitation as well as the completion of the abandoned Cargo Airport project for the betterment of the state.

On the other hand, in his quest for better Education in the state, the Governor had also visited the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Board, Mr. Hamma Bobboye, where discussions centered on how best to improve the quality of education in the state.

The governor informed the Executive Secretary that Zamfara state is one of the states that in dire need of improved school enrollment, provision of learning materials, standard school structures as well as the qualified teachers, thus, sought for immediate intervention from the Board to salvage the situation.

Responding, the Executive Secretary Mr. Bobboye assured the governor that Zamfara State would be given special attention in the 2023 intervention program of the Board.

In the Governor’s entourage were Alhaji Ibrahim Modibbo, Mannir Baba and other dignitiries of the state.
