Governor Umar Namadi has commended the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Jigawa state command for given adequate protections to the citizens and their properties over the years.
The Governor said Jigawa state shares borders with Niger Republic and need to be protected from all it’s angles.
Represented at the 60 anniversary of the Nigeria Immigration Service, by the Secretary to the state government (SSG), Comrade Bala Ibrahim, the governor said entry of illegal immigrants into the state need to be checked to minimise the rate of crimes.
The Governor explained that when the state was created in 1991, there was no office for the NIS in Dutse the state capital, instead a small office was obtained in Kiyawa town, the nearby LGA for them to manage.
“Today Jigawa state is the most peaceful in the country, because illegalities are being checked by the NIS, for those coming in and those going out of the state.
“The NIS has been doing well since it’s inception which is about 60 years ago from now. So we appreciate your efforts and remarkable achievements made over the years”, Danmodi said.
Also the Comptroller of the NIS, Jigawa state command, Mr Samson Umar Agada said as stipulated, it is their responsibilities to check and screen foreigners coming into the country all the times.
He added that even those willing to leave the country need to be screened and given the correct travelling documents that can guarantee their stay outside the country.
