Following the impeachment of plateau State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Ayuba Abok by some lawmakers, Hon. Philip Dasun representing Pankshin North in the House of Assembly has described the impeachment as illegal.

Hon. Philip Dasun disclosed this during plenary outside the Assembly complex with 15 House Members in attendance.

He said “It is very clear that the Constitution of the Federal republic of Nigeria section 92 sub-section 2C make a clear provision of the process of the impeachment of the speaker.

“Basically it requires a two-third majority of the members of the Assembly, we are 24 in number and we are supposed to have a minimum of 16 house members that will be there to sign and affirm the impeachment of the speaker.

“It was only 7 house members that were present in the process of the impeachment of the house speaker.”

Dasun expressed dissatisfaction on the incidence, stressing that the House will never allow such incidence go like that.

“I am happy that the governor is a lawyer and he knows the provision of the constitution, he will never accept that illegal process.

“We have decided as Assembly to come and have our own official seating with our authorised speaker.

“Those involved in this act that is considered illegal and neglect the global standard of legislative practice, by purportedly impeaching the speaker have been suspended.

“We have decided that they should be suspended for doing that act, even the international law bodies will recognize what we have done because what they did was very wrong.
