Zamfara state Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle has called on the Military to persist and take the battle against insecurity to bandits’ doorstep.
The governor said taking the fight to their doorsteps is the panacea to the lingering insurgency in the state.
Matawalle made the called when he played host to members of the War College of Nigeria, who were on a study visit to the Operation Hadarin Daji in the state.
He said that if the Military adopts total pro-active measures, the issue of banditry in the state will soon become a history.
He however, acknowledged that the military is overstretched and in need of more modern equipments at the moment.
“We understand that the Military is overstertched due to the multiple security challenges facing the Country, as a result of which all the men in the service are currently engaged”, he observed.
He advised that retired Military officers be re-engaged into the service while the Government further pursue its laudable efforts of acquiring more modern equipments to address insecurity in the country.
He also assured that his administration has noted the commendable efforts of the Military in the state over the years, and assured that he will continue to give his utmost support to their operations until peace is restored in the state.
Earlier, leader of the team, Major-General U U Bassey commended Governor Matawalle for the support he renders to operating officers in the state.
He however reiterated the committment of the military in ending all the security challenges facing the country.
