Jigawa State government has ordered the immediate closure of all public schools across the 27 local councils, over threat of attack by terrorists.
Indeed, the schools were hurriedly closed down on Wednesday, while the students were writing their third term examinations.
The sudden closure of the schools has caused tension, panic and apprehension among residents of the state.
Confirming the situation, the state Commissioner of Education, Honourable Lawan Inusa Danzomo said “it is true that the state has received threat of attack on schools”.
“The students were expected to go home for their third term holiday soon, but with this threat, closing the schools is better done now.
Recently Jigawa has drifted into the activities of criminals suspected to be bandits, who carried out attacks in selected areas across the state.
Last week, there was an attack on Immigration post, killing one of the officer and injuring two others in Magari local government area.
