A former National Secretary of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi has alleged that some politicians are fueling banditry activities, saying Nigeria needs urgent prayer.
He added that Zamfara state Governor, Bello Matawalle should not be blame for the insecurity in the state, stressing that issue of security is everyone’s responsibility and all hands must be on deck.
Shinkafi, who is also a former gubernatorial candidate of APGA during the 2019 governorship election made the call when he hosted newsmen for Ramadan breakfast at his residence in Gusau on Thursday.
He noted that journalists are partners in progress, and charged media practitioners to avoid the spread of fake news “You should use your profession to promote peace and stability for the development of our dear state and country at large”.
“I seek for your continued support on the ongoing peace process in the state initiatiated by Gov Bello Matawalle to provide lasting peace for the state”.
Dr Shinkafi further called on Muslims to use the ongoing Ramadan period to pray for peace and stability in the state and Nigeria in general, emphasising that there was no time that Nigeria needed urgent prayers than now.
“We all know the present situation in this country, nobody is safe, and almost all the six geopolitical zones of the country are facing security challenges.
“Let us use this period to seek for Allah’s intervention to promote peace and stability in our dear state and country.
“We should pray for the present administration in the state led by Gov. Bello Matawalle to succeed in his efforts to achieve lasting peace in the state”.
He therefore called for stakeholders’ support and cooperation with the government and security agencies to address security challenges bedeviling the state.
He appreciated journalists for accepting the invitation and promised to sustain good relationship with them for a better Nigeria.
