Ahead of state congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC), there is tension over the consideration of adoption of consensus candidate in the Jigawa APC.

Indeed, if the growing tension is handle with levity, it may tear the party apart and create factions in the party’s hierarchy.

Investigation by SINL Nigeria Online revealed that the crisis might not be unconnected with the emergence of a new candidate who has shown interest for the position of Chairmanship of the party, as against the planned adoption of the present executive.

The emerging scenario may have precipitated an emergency executive meeting of the party, with the view to find an amicable solutions among other impending in- house crises bedeviling the party before the forthcoming state Congress.

Further investigation revealed that the APC leadership in Jigawa is sharply polarised into two; pro government interest against other group opposed to government who are alleging injustice in the running of the party affairs.

Consequently, pesently there are five contenders to the office of the state APC Chairman, three including the incumbent chairman from Hadejia axis, and the remaining two contenders from other zones of the state.

Impeaceble sources opined that a strong force is now working under ground to scuttle the chances of one among the popular contenders for the office of the state chairman of the party, Ango Malam-madori.

Specifically, Malam-madori candidature is facing serious challenge, and is under intense pressure to step down for the incumbent chairman based on concensus as earlier adopted in the party.

However, the hard stance of Malam-madori and the desire to force party members to swallow bitter pill by the group supporting consensus may spark off disagreement of great magnitude, our correspondent added.

It would be recalled that until Malam-madori threw his hat into the ring, he was the Zonal Chairman of the APC in Jigawa state.

When our correspondent spoke with Alh. Dukuma,  the APC state Chairman, on telephone he said  “I am not aware of any impending crisis in our party. All what is being said is noting short of mere imagination or baseless insinuations.

“We in the Jigawa APC are one, and we hope to remain one, said Dukuma”

On the state congress and his ambition for the election, “every one of us is free democratically to contest, I don’t have the monopoly in dislodging one of his fundamental human rights to vie for political office, as far as he or she is a legitimate member of the Jigawa APC”, he added.
