As part of activities to mark 2022 International Women day, the Zamfara State chapter of Nigeria youths Parliament has distributed sanitary pads, Sanitizers and other hygienic materials to over 100 female students in the State.
Speaking on Wednesday at the flag off of the distribution in Gusau, the chairperson of the state Girls parliament, Labila Tukur Kaura said the beneficiaries were drawn from girls schools in the State.
“Over one hundred female students were selected from four secondary schools across the state who would benefit from sanitary pads and Sansitizer, courtesy of the Nigerian youths Parliament Zamfara state chapter”.
Hon.Labila Kaura, said the youths parliament council in the state has used the little income generated from their members to support female students with the distribution of hygienic materials.
“We consider this period of dry season a better and appropriate time to distribute the materials, it’s a period with a lot of challenges related to personal hygiene”.
She added that the council, has embarked on creating awareness among the youths on leadership style, to prepare them for the future.
Also speaking, the Zamfara State commissioner for women and Children Affairs, Hajiya Zainab Gummi commended the youths parliament for their foresight in providing assistance to female students in the State.
She stressed that the youth chairperson has exhibited humanitarian gesture, saying it will go along away in complimenting the state government efforts on sanitation and hygiene.
