A Civil Society Organization, Jigawa state Education Accountability Forum (JEAF) has blamed the state policy makers for poor implementation of 2023 budget on education.
JEAF said the education budget implementation in the first and second quarter of the year was far below expectation.
Speaking during a media parley organized for working journalists in the state on Wednesday, a Resource person, Mr Isa Mustapha said the government should do more.
He said 37% of the 2023 budget is allocated to education, but only 28.9% was implemented at the midyear, which is below the expectation.
“23.4 billion was released to education sector, but only 37.7% was implemented during the midyear”, he added.
He added that the personnel cost spent stood at 15.4 billion while the implementation is 46.2%.
He however blamed the policy makers for allocating just N5.2 billion as overhead cost for the first and second quarters of the 2023.
Also speaking, the chairman house committee on education at the state Assembly, honourable Ado Yakubu Zandam said government had built enough structures, but no Teachers.
He stressed that the state House of Assembly will stop the state government from further construction of new structures.
Zandam said the house will encourage the state government to recruit more manpower to occupy the structures and provide more teaching facilities to the existing structures.
