The All Progressives Congress (APC) Jigawa state chapter has suspended the embattled Roni local government party chairman, Alhaji Sale Idris for alleged rape and impregnating a 14-year-old girl.

Mr Idris 56-year-old was arrested by National Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC on Wednesday, for allegedly raping his house maid.

The suspension was announced in a letter signed by the state party chairman, Hon Aminu Sani Gumel and made available to newsmen on Thursday.

“The allegations against Idris has contravened the Article 21.2   (Vii) and (X) of the APC constitution 2022 as amended”.

According to the letter, Mr Idris has been directed to hand over the local government party documents to the vice chairman to allow legal process to take it cause.

The NSCDC said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday, following a complaint lodged by the victim’s brother that the suspect allegedly raped and impregnated his 14-year-old sister who was a house-help at the suspect’s residence.

“A brother to the  victim’s reported the case at NSCDC Roni LGA Division after the suspect refused to take the responsibility of the pregnancy.

“Instead he was pressuring the family to go for abortion” NSCDC said.
