Jigawa: Badaru invoke God’s wrath on irrigation farming vandals

‘May God expose anyone amongst you that vandalises irrigation barricades or metal pipe channels constructed to provide free flow of water at the Yamidi multi billion irrigation project executed by the Federal government’, were the words of the governor of Jigawa State.

Alhaji Badaru Abubakar spoke while receiving over 3,000 hectres of cleared land on Saturday at Yamidi of Auyo local government under the Hadejia valley.


He noted that the project will reduce the immense economic hardship of citezens.


The governor who presided over the handing and taking over of more than two Hundred hectares of farm-land undertaken by the federal government under the Hadejia valley said the project was initiated during the 2nd Republic but was revived by President Muhammad Buhari.


He said the project, a multi-beneficial, has reached over seventy five percent completion, saying the remaining would be completed before the commencement of this year`s irrigation farming.

Also speaking the Emir of Hadejia Dr Adamu Abubakar Maje commended President Muhammad Buhari and Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar for actualizing the project.


On his part, the minister of Water Resources, Engineer Suleiman Adamu said the federal government has spent over N9 Billion naira on the rehabilitation and extension of over 3,000 hectares of irrigation land at Yamidi town.


He said the project was aimed at boosting food security and economic well being of the people.
