The Jigawa state government has set aside N44.7 billion supplementary budget to finance some critical infrastructures and social services in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2023.
The decision was taken on Wednesday at government house Dutse during the state executive council meeting.
This was announced by the commissioner of Budget and Economic Planing, Babangida Umar Gantsa while briefing newsmen.
He said the need to complete some projects and the increase of federal allocation as a result of fuel subsidy removal made it necessary for the state government to make the supplementary budget.
He explained that following the fuel subsidy removal the state has received the sum of N7bn as first trench from Federal Government and N21bn special grant for Infrastructures approved to each of the 36 states and Abuja.
The commissioner said some of the sectors to be finance from the supplementary budget included, Ministry of Works and Transport N13.8billion, ministry of Health N2billion, Education N3billion, Finance N2.4billion and Jigawa Road Maintainance Agency (JIRMA) N2billion.
He said the supplementary budget will be sent to the state house of assembly for legislative work and approval.
“This is the second supplementary Budget for the state within a span of five months with 13billion earlier approved in March and all will be used to fund damaged drainages, Bridges and other essentials services across the state”, Mr Gangtsa stated.
Similarly, the Commissioner of Information, Youth Sports and Culture, Mr Sagiru Musa said the council has also approved over N192 million for the extension of drainages in Kafin Hausa local government.
