Jigawa state government has set aside the sum of N500 million to take good care of the elderly ones and the Orphans in the state.
The funds is going to be used to assist the vulnerable in the society as social protection.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Mr Aminu Adamu Ringim.
Mr Ringim stated this while addressing participants at the Budget Tracking organized by Expanding Social Protection Inclusive Development (ESPID) held at B/Nakowa Guest House Dutse.
He said since the present government led by Malam Umar Namadi came to power he directed that any contract given by the state government, 10% should be collected by the executive and go to the social protection.
“That 10% will now be use to assist the less privileged in the society”.
He that the state government has also included another N1billion in the 2024 Budget to be used in the J-care program.
Similarly, chairman of the Jigawa state Social Protection (JiSoP), Comrade Shua’ibu Kafingana and the Project Manager of the Action Against Hunger, Mrs Stella Edusunme said the meeting held was timely.
