The Traditional rulers, religious leaders as well as the media in Jigawa state have been urged to collaborate with the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHDA) to fight the menace of the Yellow Fever outbreak.
Briefing newsmen on Tuesday at the Medical Cold room in Dutse, the Immunization Officer, Dr Hassan Kwallam said the exercise is expected to start soon across the 27 local government areas of the state.
Dr Kwallam said the exercise is expected to cover the entire 27 local government areas of the state within the period of ten days.
He said that the exercise will kick off on July 10, 2023 and last for ten days.
He added that it would involve 1,728 ad hoc staff, trained on various rules of engagement during the operation.
For effective coverage during the exercise, he said three teams among the workers will concentrate on the 287 political wards across the state.
Dr Kwallam explained that the exercise is targeting people with ages, from mine months to 44 years.
He observed that the state government has spent a lot of money in preparing for the exercise, saying government would provide all the finances for the supervision and monitoring of the exercise.
He said there are lot of unemployed health workers in the state, who will be recruited and use for the exercise.
“For sure the locals have to be recruited and the communities have to be given a priority”, he stated.
