(SINL NIGERIA) Professor Haruna Musa, Executive Chairman of the Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has announced a remarkable turnaround in the state’s basic education sector.
Professor Musa stated this on Wednesday while speaking to reporters in his office, in Dutse.
According to him, the improvement is attributed to the training and retraining of teachers, which has enhanced their intellectual capacity.
As a result, he said pupils and students have demonstrated significant improvement in learning skills, with many now able to read and write as expected.
He said Governor Umar Namadi’s administration has implemented stringent measures to boost the knowledge of pupils and students in the state.
“Since the monitoring team has been established to oversee learning activities across the 27 Local Government Areas, learning among pupils and students had improved”.
He further stressed that the state government has employed over 6,000 teachers and engaged an additional 3,000 J-Teach personnel to address the shortage of educators in the state.
Professor Musa emphasized that the current teachers are qualified, having undergone rigorous screening, with approximately 600 applicants disqualified due to lack of good certificates.
According to him, the progress in Jigawa State’s basic education sector is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the state government, SUBEB, and stakeholders.
He noted that as the state continues to prioritize education, it is expected that the lives of pupils and students will be transformed, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in an increasingly competitive world.
