Jigawa indigenes studying in different tertiary institution’s in the country have petitioned the state government over alleged none payment of three years scholarship allowances.
In the petition signed by the leader of Association of Jigawa Students of Tertiary Institutions, Comrade Hassan Hadejia of Sule Lamido University Kafin Hausa stated that the state government paid half of their registration fees and left annual scholarship arrears.
The petitioners called on Governor Badaru to Wade into their plights and resolve the unpaid scholarship amicably, stressing “it is disheartening to note most of us schooling in different tertiary institutions are indebted to three years scholarship arrears, with no solution in sight”
When contacted on Thursday, the Executive Secretary Jigawa state Scholarship Board, Kamilu Ado Ringim debunked the students claim, saying we are up to date in monthly payment of scholarship to our students within and outside the state.
“As far as I am concern, we are not indebted to our students, regarding the issue of payment of scholarship allowance. It is only this year we witnessed a slight delay”.
According to him, no any state in the federation pay its students prompt monthly scholarship like jigawa. “We accord priority to education, hence our resolve to focus our attention firmly on payment of scholarship allowance to our student’s, he added”.
