JSLGSC spends N218 million to train 828 staff

Jigawa State Local Government Service Commission (JSLGSC) has organized about 56 workshops and spent over N218 Million in training and retraining of 828 staff across various departments in 2021.

Addressing newsmen in his office on Tuesday, the Chairman of the commission, DIG Bala Uba Ringim (rtd) said the exercise was done with a view to update and develop the capacity of their staff.

He added that 634 staff of the LG staff were sponsored for various in-service training both within and outside the state inorder to obtain additional qualification.


He further emphasized that the Commission has spent about N59 Million to sponsor 194 staff who were trained as Health Inspectors, Forest Guards and Assistant Works Superintendents, saying 1,433 senior staff were promoted in 2021.

 
According to Ringing, the commission has also approved the payment of  retirement benefit of 308 LG staff.


He therefore warned that lateness and absentism by LG staff is not allowed, stressing that all staff have to be prompt and hard working to justify their earnings.
