The Kogi East Elders Council (KEEC) has charged party candidates, state government to adhere strictly to Electoral laws to guarante free, fair and peaceful gubernatorial election scheduled for November 11, 2023 in Kogi State.
Chairman of KEEC, Chief (Arch.) Gabriel Yakubu Aduku gave the charge in Abuja.
He emphasised the danger of ongoing pre – election violence, saying it is a stumbling block to growth and development of Kogi state.
Aduku who double as the Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), the mouth peace of Northern Region and frontliner in the quest for sustainable peace, growth and development of the region said, “no state in the region must be left behind in the collective search for Socio-ecoomic and political reforms that engeders competitive and development of Northern Region and Nigeria at large.
He reiterated that Kogi State has come a long way and so should imbibe the culture of dialogue, far and above any form of primodial ethnic and or art of stimulating violence in the quest for political power in our democratic setting.
Aduku said “the people of Kogi State are highly desirous in nothing but Good Governance and Peaceful co – existence, a prerequisite for the growth and development of the state”.
“Intimidation, thuggery, harrashment and violence in any form, from any quarter is detrimental to the dream of the founding fathers and desire of the people of Kogi State who are earger to catch up or set a pace for their peers” Aduku said.
