Maiduguri Flood: Senate Chief Whip, Monguno donates N50 million to Borno state flood disaster relief committee

The Senate Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno (Borno North) has thrown his weight behind the flood disaster relief committee put in place by Borno state governor, Professor Babagana Zulum.

This comes as Monguno, who is also the vice chairman of the Senate committee on Appropriation has donated N50 million to the committee, with a view to mitigate the effect of the Maiduguri flood disaster.

Recall, Maiduguri, the Borno state capital was ravaged recently by flood, occasioned by breakdown of the Alau dam which claimed lives, displaced residents and destroyed properties.

A statement by the Monguno media office in Abuja said the donation was in response to the devastating flood disaster that affected several communities in Maiduguri and its environs.

The statement noted that the financial contribution demonstrates the senator’s commitment to supporting disaster relief efforts and alleviating the suffering of those affected. 

“I believe that this contribution will make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by the flood disaster.

“My thoughts are with the Borno state government, families, and individuals who have been affected by this flood, and we hope that our support will contribute to their recovery and well-being.

“I am deeply saddened by the devastating impact of the flood disaster. As a responsible citizen, we must support the relief efforts put in place by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Prof. Engr Babagana Umara Zulum.

“For those who lost their lives, may the Almighty Allah forgive their shortcomings, grant their gentle souls the highest form of Jannah, and may he give us the fortitude to bear the loss” the statement concluded.
