There was confusion on the floor of Senate on Monday as the red chamber was sharply polarised over the screening of Festus Keyamo, a ministerial nominee.
Indeed, trouble started when Keyamo, the last nominee on the Monday order paper of the senate appeared before the senators for screening.
Shortly after he introduced himself, Senator Nwokocha Darlington (LP, Abia Central) raised a point of order.
The motion was thereafter seconded by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, (APGA, Abia South).
Darlington in his point of order which was sustained by the Senate President urged the Senate to stepdown the screening of Keyamo, until he is able to clear the air on why he had reportedly blackmailed and rediculed the hallowed chambers.
According to the lawmaker, Keyamo had repeatedly shunned invitations by the National Assembly on different issues including Federal Government fund for job in 2020.
The Senate was thrown into confusion when the vote on whether to suspend the screening of Keyamo untill he properly responded to all the issues was asked by the Senate President.
The plenary was rowdy that Akpabio who was unable to control his colleagues, stood up asked the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele to make a remark.
Consequently Bamidele moved that the Senate go into executive session.
The executive session was on as at the time of this report.
