The Director General of the National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA), Dr Gambo Aliyu Gumel has presented four new Ambulances to Jigawa state government to further strengthen its health sector.
The DG disclosed that two Million cases of HIV and Aids are presently in the Agency’s record in Nigeria. “Soon HIV/Aids will be conquered like the Polio”.
The DG who spoke to newsmen on Wednesday shortly after paying a courtesy visit to Jigawa state Governor, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar in Government house Dutse, said 2.8 million people had already being identified and two percent is being investigated.
He noted that he was in Jigawa state to thank the Governor for his active participation in the fight against HIV/Aids across the length and breath of the state.
He added that about N130 million has been set aside by the agency to fight the HIV/Aids scourge in Jigawa state, pointing out that about 600 people are receiving direct payment from the Agency in Roni, Suletankarkar and Gwaram LGAs.
Similarly, Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar thanked the agency for contributing a lot to improve the health sector in Jigawa state.
He added that about 279 health facilities across the length and breath of the state are in order, while each LGA is going to have an upgraded Specialists health facilities.
He therefore explained that N780 million has also been set aside for free health services to accident victims across the state.
