New Moon sighted, Ramadan begins on Saturday -Sultan of Sokoto

Sultan of Sokoto and President- General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has announced Saturday, April 2, as the day for the commencement of this year’s Ramadan.

The Sultan made this known in a special message he read on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Network News.


He said this followed the sighting of the moon in many states, including Sokoto, Zamfara, Kano, Katsina and Plateau.

He used the occasion to call on Muslims to continue to work towards religious harmony and to ceaselessly pray for the leaders.
