The Deputy Commander of the Nigeria Hunters Council, Mr Sunday Akpa has said the council had trained 700 hunters that can confront Bandits and Kidnappers in North-West Nigeria.
Akpa spoke on Monday at the closing ceremony of the 3-day training held in Dutse Jigawa state capital.
“We trained about 700 youths who are real hunters even though the accredited ones are 690 hunters. And we know they can do the job and can enter any forest and bush”, he explained.
He added that “hunters of Nigeria are the real masters of the Jungle, and the Cabals of bandits are in the jungle, so we know where they are”.
Akpa stressed that “every Hunter knows the hidden parts of the jungles, every Hunter is entitled to hold a gun. Without gun you cannot enter the jungle or bush”.
According to him the objectives of the training is to prepare the trainees the hard way. And introduce them to various forms of combat they may likely come to face in the bush with the Kidnappers.
He therefore said the training comprises of seven states in the North-West zone of Nigeria where banditry is worst.
