The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Jigawa state Command has intercepted eight suspected victims of human trafficking.
The suspects were heading to Europe, through the Sahara Desert in Niger Republic.
Parading the suspects on Monday, the State Comptroller of the NIS, Mr Ahmad Dauda Bagari appealed to parents and guardians to always watch over their children and instill patriotism in them to stay in their home country.
He said that though, there was no incriminating items or drugs found in their possession, the NIS is going to hand them over to NAPTIP for investigation and prosecution.
He warned parents and guardians to stop encouraging their wards to travel abroad for the so-called greener pastures, saying their home country is by far better than the foreign countries they admired.
He further stressed that, whenever they apprehend the sponsors or the agents of the traffickers, they will be taken to court by NAPTIP to serve as deterrent to others with similar intention.
