NPC Trains 1,880 Technicians, Facilitators in Jigawa

The Director of the National Population Commission (NPC), Jigawa state office, Ahmed Ibrahim has said at least 1,880 ad-hoc staff were trained in readiness for the April 2023 house and head count census to be conducted in the state and nationwide.

Speaking Exclusively to our reporter on Wednesday shortly after the training in Dutse, the state Director said those who received the training include technicians who will handle the special devices and gadgets made specifically for the census.

He said those that can do the job proper are the facilitators and the Enumerators, who had already being trained on how to carry out their assignments in the field when the time comes.

Ibrahim also expressed satisfaction and appreciation for the support and co-operation by the state government as well as the traditional rulers across the state towards conducting a reliable and acceptable head count and house census in the state.

He said the successes recorded during the conduct of the trial census exercise in the state proved that the main headcount and house census will equally be successful.

According to him the specific number of the entire workforce to be recruited during the main exercise is known at the moment, because one or two persons will be taken in each village, ward across the 27 LGAs.

He also commended the local government Chairmen, civil society organizations and the media for their co-operation.

Ibrahim said those trained on the repairs and maintenance of the devices against the forthcoming headcount and house census will also carry out the stepdown training on other ad-hoc staff at the local government levels.

“The facilitators and the special workforce who will manage the repairs and maintenance of the devices specially made for the population census, will be posted to all the nooks and crannies of the state” Ibrahim concluded.
