A non Governmental organization, the Organization for Community Civil Engagement (OCCEN), in Jigawa state has organized a training session to sensitise newly registered voters on 2023 general elections.
The town hall training session held Wednesday at the Manpower Development Institute (MDI) Dutse, Jigawa state capital, was with the support from the National Endowment for Democracy.
The Executive Director, OCCEN, comrade Abdurrazak Alqali said the training was aimed at sensitizing the newly registered voters on what to do before, during and after elections.
Comrade Alqali said eight million out of 12 million voters registered newly by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the country are youths.
He said youths are the backbone of every society in the world, saying OCCEN will continue to sensitize youths for more participation in politics.
Also commenting, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Jigawa State, Dr Mamuda Isah said OCCEN has done well for organizing the session to encourage youths participation in politics.
Dr Isah said, INEC is going to give chance to every ligible voter to participate fully during the 2023 general elections.
