A 23-year-old man, Badmus Quadri, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl, Ogun state police said.
The suspect reportedly had carnal knowledge of the girl on Thursday.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, Quadri was arrested following a complaint by victim’s mother.
Oyeyemi said the mother of the victim reported the matter at Owode-Egbado Police Station that she noticed blood in the private part of her daughter upon returning from market, The PUNCH reports.
The PPRO added that the mother said she detected it when she interrogated her daughter.
He said the victim told her mother that it was Quadri who took her into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.
According to Oyeyemi, upon the report, the DPO Owode-Egbado Division, SP Olabisi Elebute, led detectives to the area where the suspect, who is a neighbour to the victim’s parents, was promptly arrested after the victim identified him.
