(SINL NIGERIA) Senator Neda Imasuen, representing Edo South Senatorial District at the 10th Senate has revealed that Governor Monday Okpebholo’s good works in Edo State were the major reason he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Imasuen, who was elected to the 10th Senate on the Labour Party (LP) platform, recently switched to the ruling APC.
In an interview with newsmen in Abuja, Imasuen said working with Governor Okpebholo good works was a major factor in his decision to join the APC.
He eulogised the Governor’s efforts, saying that working together with him would bring benefits to the people of Edo State.
Imasuen, who was sworn in as a Senator alongside Governor Okpebholo, said their friendship and collaboration while in the Senate also influenced his decision.
“He is my friend, we were elected and sworn-in the same day. We also collaborated and worked together while he was here as a Senator.
“And having gone back to Edo State as the Executive Governor, and having seen the kind of work that he has been able to do in this short period of time. Yes it’s an incentive to go and work and collaborate with him for the betterment of Edo people which is the overriding interest of us all”.
The Senator said his agenda is to better represent his people, adding that joining the APC has made it easier to achieve this goal.
The Senate had formally announced Imasuen’s defection during a plenary session, after a letter conveying his resignation from the LP was read on the floor.
Meanwhile, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, assured Imasuen that his efforts would not be in vain under the APC’s banner.
