The Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi has condemned those discouraging others from taking the AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccine.
The Emir also who berated those rejecting the vaccine as insane explaining that, “whosoever rejects the vaccine is mentally derailed and should be examined”, he said.
Alhaj Sunusi assured of the vaccines efficacy shortly after receiving his first dose on Wednesday at the Dutse emirate palace.
He explained that, as part of government’s responsibility to protect and provide safety to the people, government will never allow any body to take the vaccines without assuring it’s safety.
“Today I have taken my vaccine and I appeal to Nigerians particularly Jigawa people to accept the covid – 19 vaccine, as it was approved by World Health Organisation and other international health agencies, the country and state respectively”, he said.
Also speaking, the executive secretary Jigawa state primary healthcare development agency, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim, commended the traditional leaders for their support and contribution towards achieving many health programmes in the state.
Dr Kabiru also appreciated the support and cooperation given to the agency by the people of the state, adding that Jigawa state is now eight years away from polio.
Similarly, Emir of Hadejia Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje charged the people of the area to embrace the vaccine and shun all negative energy that has become the order of the day within the social media.
The Emir who received the dose of the AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccine on Tuesday said the vaccine is safe.
