The Senate caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday said a comprehensive police and policing reforms will be an answer to the police brutality in Nigeria.
The party also appealed to the government to provide adequate compensation to the families of victims of brutality.
Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus made this known, shortly after a meeting with the party caucus at the Senate.
Rising from the meeting, the Senate caucus of the PDP, said the party endorsed the five points raised by the protesters as political party and as PDP senators.
“I met with the Senate caucus of the PDP under the leadership of senator Eyinnnaya Abaribe, the minority leader, we held some very useful discussion and raised some critical issues of national interest and will believe that some of them are for consumption of senators and leaders in the Senate.
“We have also discussed the issue of endSARS we believe that comprehensive police and policing reforms will be an answer to the police brutality and we have also endorsed the five points raised by the protesters as a political party as senators that are here.
“They are Nigerians and we also appeal to the government for adequate compensation to the families.
“I believe that when that is done and comprehensive reform is done and the rule of law as it pertains to criminal justice system in our country where everybody will be assured of protection of life and property and that is the way to go in our country, that will bring sanity and all of these will be a thing of the past” Secondus said.
