Police repel bandits attack, recovers bomb, military uniforms,14 motorcycles in Zamfara

The Zamfara state police command has repelled bandits attack, recovered 14 motorcycles, military uniforms and bomb along Tsafe-Funtua roads in the state.


Addressing newsmen on Tuesday at the police command headquarters in Gusau, the state Commissioner of police Mr Abuto Yaro said bandits have no place to stay in Zamfara.

“A distress call was received by the DPO Tsafe Division that, armed Bandits numbering about hundred blocked Tsafe – Funtua Road with intent to rob innocent commuters.”

According to him, on receipt of the report, the DPO mobilised a combined team of Special Forces and Conventional Policemen to the scene, they engaged the bandits.
 “After serious gun duel with the bandits, they fled to the bush with possible gun wounds and left their fourteen (14) operational motorcycles and other bags containing their clothes and Military Camouflage”.
The Commissioner disclosed that some of the recovered military uniforms were believed to be from neighbouring Niger military uniforms “the Case is being investigated at the State CID”.
He maintained that effort to arrest the fleeing suspects is being intensified by security agencies in the state.
